• New Future for Transrapid in China: As a pleasant surprise for those who love high speed trains, the Chinese have decided to enlarge the Transrapid track at Shanghai. The Maglev was a big success in numbers of people transported, but lacked raising a profit for the investors. The enlargement has to alter that picture. See for the article. • Japan announces new high speed Maglev trains that run 550 km/hour and will replace current conventional high speed trains from 2025 onwards. This is the message in English:
   
• The Japanese railway operator Central Japan Railway (JR Central) has announced that by 2025 they will have the fastest Maglev train in the world in operation. The project will require an investment of 44,7 billion (miljard) dollar. The train with a speed of
  500 km/hour will operate on a trajectory of 290 kilometers between Tokyo and a destination still to be determined in Central Japan.
   
• In a first phase a connection could be made between Tokyo and the industrial town of Nagoya, says news agency Reuter. Next an extension will be made to Osaka. The Maglev train will replace current Japanese High Speed trains. The Japanese train is claimed to be more beneficiary than the Maglev of Siemens in Shanghai.
   
• The Chinese Maglev project reaches a speed of 430 kilometers per hour. It is the only current commercial track in the world. (This statement is probably wrong since in Japan also the Linimo line is in operation, WvdP) China has recently build it’s own Maglev train. At the time of the Olympics it should be traveling at a speed of 300 km/hour.

  Though little messages are published, well informed sources state that continuation of the Shanghai track of Transrapid with 200 km is a project that is still been carried out.

• De Japanse spoorwegoperator Central Japan Railway (JR Central) heeft aangekondigd tegen 2025 de snelste magneettrein ter wereld te zullen laten rijden. Met het project zou een bedrag van 44,7 miljard dollar gemoeid zijn. De trein die een snelheid van
  500 kilometer moet halen zou ingezet worden op een traject van 290 kilometer tussen Tokio en een nader te bepalen bestemming in Centraal-Japan.
  
  In een eerste fase zou een verbinding kunnen gelegd worden tussen Tokio en de industriestad Nagoya, aldus het persbureau Reuters. Daarna zou een uitbreiding volgen naar Osaka. De maglev-treinen moeten de huidige Japanse  hogesnelheidstreinen vervangen. De nieuwe Japanse maglevtrein zal ook zijn Chinese tegenhanger, operationeel in de omgeving van Shanghai, van de troon stoten.
