About Us

Organization

European Maglev is a nonprofit association solely devoted to proposing new European trajectories for primarily Maglev type of transportation. However in some special cases also classic rail solutions are mentioned.
These proposals are always based on applying state of the art technologies.
Since our foundation in 2007 we’ve provided many propositions on new trajectories and presented visionary policy advices about how the 21st century rural and infra structural solutions would have to look like. It is our mission to create an effective transition that will yield a completely sustainable society within a single generation. We believe the best way to achieve this goal is to first of all to introduce magnetic levitation transportation for persons and goods as a replacement for airplane, car and (high speed)train. In our view the advantages of Maglev cannot be overestimated, because of:
- reduction of harmful emissions (greenhouse and unhealthy gasses),
- saving of energy and costs;
- alleviation of traffic congestion;
- the creation of new real estate opportunities;
- speeding up improvement of otherwise aging infrastructure.

Working team

Drs. Willem van der Pol is founder and chief member of the European Maglev Association.
With his all-round scientific background and more than fifteen years of experience in advising politicians about sustainable solutions, he has succeeded in introducing many novelties that effectively counter current environmental and rural problems.

His advises span a wide range of subjects:
- how to reach climate neutral mobility within 15 years;
- how to abolish traffic congestion;
- how to improve air quality substantially;
- how to (re)develop regions in both an economic and environmental fashion;
- how to create renewable energy from geologic and geobiochemistry sources.
His language abilities are: Dutch, English, German. Basic understanding of French. Some Spanish and Norwegian.
His contribution to the cause of European Maglev is voluntary and on a strictly noncommercial base. It is not connected whatsoever to his occupation as a civil servant of a Dutch Municipality.

Frank Menger has a professional background in logistics and international rail cargo. He has worked with many logistic companies in Northwestern EU. He is now involved in several ventures on rail. One of his current projects is to realize a new cross border high speed rail connection on which business class service is delivered. Language abilities: English and German.

Sjef Hendriks is a 85 (!) year old inventor from Belgium who has devoted his life to proposing new inventions that radically solve the problem of current congestion problems. He has done so by building scale models of which he has proven - as was shown in a life Television broadcast - that this would work well in a real life situation.
One of his most important inventions is transportation of vehicles by train in a near vacuum tunnel. These trains will carry trucks and passenger cars. Preferably the trains will be supported by Maglev rail systems. Applying this would result in tremendous energy savings and alleviation of congestion. Despite his efforts and the promises made by the Belgian government to further investigate his solutions, he didn’t receive serious support to put his ideas into practice.

Alliances

European Maglev takes initiatives to overcome the thresholds that now stand in the way of introduction affordable Maglev solutions. One way is to bring forward imaginative proposals. Another way is to arrange for the collaboration of best of breed companies in new projects.
