   Welcome

Welcome to the website of European Maglev. Our goal is to provide you with objective and
independent information about the application of Magnetic Levitation Trains in Europe. You will find here
the latest about developments and what future holds in store.

European Maglev is founded in 2007 and has already provided many proposals and advises to governments, political parties and a wide public audience on a noncommercial base.
We specialize in proposing trajectories throughout Europe and identifying the type of Maglev
best fit for the situation. Our solution is based on a broad analysis of transportation demands, demographic
trends, key financial and economic figures and a vision on rural planning for the next decades.
This information is processed within a Geographic Information System.

Like for instance the trajectory depicted here underneath at the South of Amsterdam as a blue line, yielding
the best solution for the main transportation corridor in the Netherlands as proposed to the Dutch government.
Pink areas are the main planned building sites. A video in Dutch about this possibility can be found
here.

Universal Maglev. To our finding in every situation where there is great need for a new transportation infrastructure to accommodate economic growth and solve congestion problems, there is nowadays always a Maglev option available that is far superior in performance and affordability.
If for some reason a classic (high speed) train solution has significance we will also inform about that

Climate Change Killer
High energy efficiency causes the Maglev to have a far less Carbon footprint than
airplane or car. There is no need for nuclear power or coal plants to generate the large amounts of electricity that is needed for current High Speed trains.
Maglev trains operating on 100% green energy are the first complete climate neutral
mass transportation method that can be applied throughout the whole of Europe.

Train and system
The implication of introducing Maglev trains goes far beyond the introduction of a public service. It is a key element in creating an all electric transportation chain. Within this chain people, goods and even (electric) cars and towing trucks can be shuttled back and forth at high frequencies. The energy provided to this chain, for instance by windmills, is stored in on board batteries and electromagnetic flywheels. It is optimal used within the chain by recuperating that energy upon braking.

Real alternative to the car
Current public transportation systems are not capable of providing a viable alternative to the performance of present day cars. Current public service is based on the concept of mass transportation. Whereas cars offer individual freedom and car makers can invest large sums of money in steadily improving comfort and technological performance. Only a Personal Rapid Transport system can compete with that.

Because current public service heavily rely on government subsidy, there is a drawback to growing popularity.
With higher frequencies costs rise for maintenance and fuel consumption and inevitably so for ticket prices.
Only highly efficient transportation systems can cut back prices. No wonder that principals of metropolitan systems predict that within twenty years their systems will be based on Maglev, in stead of wheel-on-steel.

Station Architectural Transformation. Because of new 3-dimensional spatial properties stations can be optimized to the maximum. They can be transformed into multi modal transferees where car are automatically stored, people and goods pass at high frequency and where eye catching real estate and newly created nature provide a lively, save and comfortable place for passengers passing by or staying over.

Communication
European Maglev creates public support by applying all modern communication techniques. Publishing scientific and newspaper articles, producing internet videos, upon request giving presentations and University lectures and providing up to date and reliable information on internet, for instance by updating pages
on Wikipedia.

Worldwide Developments
As most developments on Maglev systems occur around the world we intend to provide also a thorough
coverage of worldwide novelties on other continents. Not on a daily base - like the
International Maglev Board provides - but still regularly updated and thoroughly validated information. See the News section for important news about Transrapid in China. The chances for Transrapid in Europe are declining by contrast. Even the test-track in the German province of NordRhein-Westfalen possibly will be shutdown. That would mean the end of a highly appreciated attraction for visitors from all over Europe. Some German regional entrepreneurs are now attempting to raise funds and find partners to restore the track back to full operation.

About Monorail projects worldwide regular news updates can be found through the sites of Mr. Jaap Ketel. Please check out the Monorailex website.

Creating the new rail and Maglev map of Europe
It is our intention to produce in time a complete coverage of newly proposed tracks in Europe which will yield a new backbone of connections that upgrades all the current ones.
This will result in a complete sustainable infrastructure, with the least ecological footprint achievable for Europe
as a whole and aiming at complete climate neutral transportation.
